When a hearing aid is not enough

To gain a better understanding of what might be required in the school classroom, the university lecture theatre, the daycare centre or just driving in the car on a family holiday, Eardrum Education offers an informative range of leaflets to reinforce the fact that a hearing aid or cochlear implant alone, even when used with a range of communication strategies and tactics, is just not enough to overcome barriers such as distance and noise.  Communication strategies, educating others and manipulating the immediate listening environment are not to be overlooked.

Eardrum Education Philosophy

Education, communication, inclusivity, awareness, empowerment.

Through education, we aim to encourage inclusivity and empower hearing impaired individuals. We are striving for hearing health to be on everyone’s agenda so that society is more aware and more knowledgeable about hearing loss. Hearing loss is an epidemic, touching millions of people both young and old, in all regions of the country. Remote Australians in particular, are lacking in resources and support. Elderly Australians living alone or in nursing homes, often lack the necessary support network to remain empowered and independent. Young hearing impaired Australians at school and university, have hurdles to overcome in their educational pursuits.

Eardrum Education aims to advance the audiology profession through education.
